Fundraising Dinner Serves French Cuisine and Live Music

Suzanne Cameron, Co-President of the APDA Washington Chapter, hosted her tenth annual fundraising dinner for Parkinson's disease on Saturday night (Sep. 26). These events have raised nearly $200,000 for the fight against Parkinson's, and each year a different theme is featured. This year's dinner was inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia," and featured the French cuisine popularized by Julia Child along with live jazz music played by Pearl Django. Movement Disorder Specialist Recommendation

As a result of a recent survey it appears that only 25% of Parkinson's disease patients in the Pacific Northwest are treated by a Movement Disorder Specialist and the Washington Chapter of the APDA recommend all those living with PD or newly diagnosed consider having a consult with a Movement Disorder Specialist.

ADPA Podcast Series on Parkinson's Disease

The Washington State APDA now offers podcasts for those who are interested in learning more about Parkinson disease. Topics include an introduction to PD, Parkinson's 101, medications, nutrition, exercise and more. [Straight Talk and Honest Hope DVD]After 2 years of development, the DVD "Managing Parkinson's: Straight Talk and Honest Hope" is here. The DVD provides education and information to those who are newly diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, or those who live in a community with minimal education and support for those with the disease. The DVDs will be provided through the national network of APDA I&R Centers.
