Parkinson's Exercise Class

The focus of this exercise class is to improve mobility of individuals with Parkinson disease. When you have been diagnosed with Parkinson's, it is very important to stay moving and keep active in order to maintain optimal function. Exercise has been shown to be helpful in maintaining mobility throughout the lifespan.

From the Ground Up - Strength and Flexibility

Geared toward those with neurological disorders including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Post-Stroke Recovery this weekly, mat-oriented class, includes elements of Yoga, Tai Chi, dumbbell exercise, exercise bands and more. Participants will be supplied with all of the necessary equipment including the exercise mat. Exercises take place on the ground but are beneficial in all walks of life. Due to the nature of the class all participants must be able to get down to their mat and back to their feet again independently or at least with the assistance of their own caregiver. Registration is necessary in order to attend.

A Specialty PD Exercise Class

This is a positive-energy filled class that focuses on improving functional mobility. Exercises target impairments relating to Parkinson's disease including sensory awareness, tremor, rigidity, freezing, posture, and slow/small movements, low energy and motivational challenges. Class activities are based on Exercise4Brain Change™ & the John Argue Method. Participants should be able to maintain balance for > 30 seconds without assistance. Caregivers/family are encouraged to attend at no additional charge. Wear comfortable/loose clothing!

These classes are based on the Methods of John Argue and have been designed specifically for those with Parkinson’s disease. His approach combines yoga, tai-chi and dance, improving flexibility, strength, balance and overall coordination. Falls Prevention for People with Parkinson's

A PD specific falls prevention course. Falls risk assesments will be discussed in detail. Learn strength and balance exercises to reduce your risk. Topics will include bradykinesia, festination, freezing, blepharospasm, and more. Develop your personal checklist and take action.
