Our Background

About the American Parkinson Disease Association, Washington Chapter

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is the country's largest grassroots organization serving the Parkinson's community. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in 1961 to "Ease the Burden, and Find the Cure."

The APDA seeks to fulfill its mission through a comprehensive program of research, patient education and support. Founded in 1984 by a dedicated group of volunteers, the APDA Washington Chapter supports the needs of over 30,000 people with Parkinson's in the Pacific Northwest. Our focus on helping people live better today and funding research for a better life tomorrow, is unique in the Pacific Northwest.

The APDA Washington Chapter aims to fulfill our mission locally by educating and empowering those in our community challenged with Parkinson’s by promoting hope and optimism through innovative services and programs, and funding vital local and national research.
