About the APDA, Washington State Chapter
The American Parkinson Disease Association is the only Parkinson's organization that raises funds for both patient care and research. We work with the Parkinson's community to provide programs that are directed to the patient and caregiver, educational programs, informational literature and seminars. Our ultimate goal is to be able to fulfill our mission to "ease the burden, find a cure."
Founded in 1984, the Washington Chapter is a dedicated group of volunteers who support the needs of over 15,000 Parkinson's patients in Washington State. We work with and support our regional APDA Information and Referral Center; raise funds for research into the cause and cure of Parkinson disease; and are involved in area support groups, Parkinson’s-related education, and support programs for those with Parkinson’s and their caregivers.
We are part of the larger network of American Parkinson Disease Association, a not-for-profit, voluntary health agency committed to serving the Parkinson’s community through a comprehensive program of research, patient education and support. APDA was founded in 1961 to "Ease the Burden and Find the Cure." It is the nation's largest grassroots organization for supporting Parkinson patients.
