You are no doubt aware of the profound effect Parkinson's Disease has on our communities world wide. You may not realize the vast volunteer opportunities that exist in our local communities on a regular and per project basis. In addition to donations, your time and effort can improve the lives of those impacted by Parkinson's Disease.
- Each year the Washington State Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) sponsors a Walk-a-Thon to generate funds for parkinson's research. Volunteer opportunities include assistance with registration, facilities procurement and setup, refreshments, photography, entertainment, publicity, prize acquisitions, decorations, and general assistance for the disabled.
- Assistance in the Information and Referral Center at the University of Washington. Opportunities exist in data entry, phone receptionist, bulk mailing, newsletter production, symposium and special project reservations and registration, and other general assistance.
- Working with the Washington State Chapter's Executive Director and Board in project leadership focusing on community fund raising events, marketing and publicity and public awareness.
Time is a precious commodity and any gift, no matter how small, is appreciated and highly valued. If you can provide assistance or desire more information, please complete our Online Volunteer Application. You will be contacted through your preferred contact method within two weeks.
